Jumla-Rara Lake Trek is among the most famous treks in the Western part of the country. The wild scenic views and glimpse of natural wonders are quite different here comparatively. The Rara Lake lies in Mugu district of Karnali Zone in the far western region of Nepal. Although this place is relatively remote, the scenic views are outstanding and beat up any other trekking regions of the country.
This beautiful lake, known as Rara, is very stunning to watch live rather than looking it in the photographs. The length of this lake covers 5 km and is 2 km wide. This lake is considered as one of the deepest one with a depth of 167 meters. This lake lies in an altitude of 3060 meters. This exquisite lake is surrounded by pine, spruce and juniper forests that make the view livelier. Besides, when the lake mirrors the beautiful shadow of the snow-capped mountains, the area becomes heavenly to be a part of. The government later declared the area as national park and restricted people to settle in the surrounding areas. It’s our responsibility to preserve nature’s gifts ever long.
Jumla-Rara is a trekking route that covers long ridges covered with alpine forests and pastures. The high valleys around add more taste to the trek. Summer seem the best season to trek in this area. During winters, the land is covered up by snow and becomes difficult to walk through. Also, you won’t be able to enjoy the scenic views as expected.
